Lowfat Molasses Oat Rolls

Total Time: 2 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 2 hrs Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (1/2 ounce) packet dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons heart healthy canola oil
  • 1/2 cup oat bran
  • 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour

Recipe

  • 1 in a small bowl combine flour and yeast and set aside.
  • 2 in a saucepan combine milk, molasses, cooking oil and salt.
  • 3 heat until just warm.
  • 4 add milk mixture to flour mixture.
  • 5 beat with an electric mixer on low speed.
  • 6 using a wooden spoon, stir in oat bran then stir in as much wheat flour as you can.
  • 7 turn down out and knead in remaining wheat flour.
  • 8 should make a stiff dough.
  • 9 put into a bowl and cover with a towel. in a warm place let it rise about1 hour.
  • 10 punch dough down.
  • 11 turn into lightly floured surface.
  • 12 divide in half and let rest 10 minutes.
  • 13 spray a large baking sheet with lowfat cooking spray.
  • 14 divide each half of dough into six pieces.
  • 15 shape each piece into a ball and place on cooking sheet 2 inches apart.
  • 16 cover and let rise 45 more minutes.
  • 17 bake at 375 for ten-12 minutes.
