Oatmeal Turkey Stuffing

Total Time: 10 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 2 cooking onions
  • 5 stalks celery
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 5 cups oatmeal
  • sage
  • thyme
  • garlic powder
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • water, to moisten

Recipe

  • 1 dice onion and celery.
  • 2 melt butter in a large frying pan or sauce pan.
  • 3 add onion and celery and saute until soft.
  • 4 add oatmeal and seasonings. my mom uses poutry seasoning and that is really nice too.
  • 5 stir until well mixed.
  • 6 moisten with water until clumpy.
  • 7 gently pack into the turkey cavity bottom and top.
  • 8 roast the bird as you would with bread stuffing. it smells wonderful.
  • 9 you can also make this as a side dish if you steam it in the pan. made like that, it's called scurly.
