Smothered Patties With Onion Au Jus

Ingredients

- 1 lb extra lean ground sirloin
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- nonstick cooking spray
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced (4oz)
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
- 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee granules
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Recipe
- 1 shape ground sirloin into 4 patties about 1/2"-inch thick and 4"-inches in diameter. sprinkle with salt.
- 2 place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. lightly coat skillet with cooking spray. add patties and cook 3 minutes, turn and cook 3 minutes longer or until just barely pink in center. set aside on separate plate.
- 3 lightly coat pan with cooking spray. add onions and cook 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. set aside with the patties.
- 4 add the remaining ingredients to the skillet. bring to a boil and continue boiling 3 minutes or until mixture measures 1/2 cup.
- 5 return the patties and onions to the skillet. turn patties several times to coat well and cook 1 minute longer to heat through.
