Healthy Granola Bars

Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups toasted old fashioned oats
- 3 tablespoons toasted almonds
- 1 cup puffed millet
- 1 egg
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sugar substitute (splenda)
- 1 cup unsweet applesauce
- 3 tablespoons peanut butter (smucker's natural)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
- 3 tablespoons dark chocolate, bits
Recipe
- 1 set your oven to broil.
- 2 spread oats and almonds evenly on a cookie sheet. toast for about 6 minutes (until lightly toasted,) stir every few minutes.
- 3 in a large bowl - combine all ingredients and stir. make sure to break up the dark chocolate. i use a paring knife and shave the chunk.
- 4 taste batter and adjust according to your own tastes. add salt, dried fruit, honey, etc.
- 5 line a 9 x 13 baking pan with parchment.
- 6 pour batter into pan and press down with your hands.
- 7 bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes until it is slightly brown on top.
- 8 remove from oven and let cool.
- 9 cut into 12 bars.
