Healthy Granola Bars

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 1/4 cups toasted old fashioned oats
  • 3 tablespoons toasted almonds
  • 1 cup puffed millet
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar substitute (splenda)
  • 1 cup unsweet applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter (smucker's natural)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
  • 3 tablespoons dark chocolate, bits

Recipe

  • 1 set your oven to broil.
  • 2 spread oats and almonds evenly on a cookie sheet. toast for about 6 minutes (until lightly toasted,) stir every few minutes.
  • 3 in a large bowl - combine all ingredients and stir. make sure to break up the dark chocolate. i use a paring knife and shave the chunk.
  • 4 taste batter and adjust according to your own tastes. add salt, dried fruit, honey, etc.
  • 5 line a 9 x 13 baking pan with parchment.
  • 6 pour batter into pan and press down with your hands.
  • 7 bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes until it is slightly brown on top.
  • 8 remove from oven and let cool.
  • 9 cut into 12 bars.
