Peasant Turnip Slaw With Sweet Hot Mustard Dressing

Ingredients

  • Servings: 3
  • 1/4 head cabbage
  • 6 -8 turnips (small to medium)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/4 cup finely-sliced celery
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon sweet-hot mustard
  • 1 pinch celery seed (optional)
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 peel turnips and carrot. shred or julienne cut all the vegetables.
  • 2 toss veggies with sugar.
  • 3 mix dressing ingredients, whipping with a fork or a whisk until the mustard is dissolved.
  • 4 toss dressing with veggies.
  • 5 chill at least one hour to blend flavors.
  • 6 note: can substitute splenda or preferred artificial sweetener to make this diabetic-friendly.
