Red Cabbage With Apples

- 2 tart apples, cored, cut in half and sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium head red cabbage, coarsely shredded
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Recipe
- 1 in a large pot or a dutch oven, saute apples in butter for 5 minutes. add all of the other ingredients.
- 2 , bring to a boil, reduce heat. cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, 35-40 minutes.
