Orange Biscuits

Total Time: 29 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 14 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange peel, grated
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup fresh orange juice

Recipe

  • 1 combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • 2 using a pastry blender, cut orange peel and butter into dry ingredients until crumbs form.
  • 3 stir in orange juice and rind, mixing gently to form ball of dough.
  • 4 knead on lightly floured board 10 times.
  • 5 pat or roll to 1/2 inch thickness, then cut with floured, round 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
  • 6 place on greased baking sheet and bake at 425 for 12 to 14 minutes, until lightly browned.
  • 7 serve warm.
